Independence day 2024 what vedas say for patriotism service revolution and protection of the nation

Sanatan Dharma inspires patriotism, service to the country, revolution and protection of the nation. That is why so many freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the country by fighting against the British, in whose memory we celebrate Independence Day every year on 15th August. Independence Day Let’s celebrate.

The Vedas contain a lot of the noble feeling of nationalism. In Rigveda 10.191.2, a prayer has been made to God-

,San Gachchhadhwam San Vadadhwam San Vo Manansi Janataam. Deva Bhagam Yatha Purve Sanjanana Upasate.

Meaning- “O God! Please give us such wisdom that we all live in harmony with each other and walk together. Speak sweetly and be of the same heart and enjoy the wealth and property produced in our own country by sharing it equally with each other. May our every tendency be devoid of love and hatred and increase our love for each other.”

In the Rigveda’s ‘Indra-Sukta’ (10.47.2), a prayer has been made to God to bless his own nation with wealth, grains and sons.

,Swayudham swavasam sunitham chatuh samudram dharunam rayinaam. Chakratyam Shansyam Bhurivaaramasmabhyam Chitram Vrishanam Rayim Daah.”

The meaning is that “Oh Almighty God! Please give us such a child blessed with wealth and prosperity, who is well-armed and infallible, capable of protecting himself and his nation and leads the people with justice, mercy, generosity and good conduct, also possessing various types of wealth, is engaged in charity and is praiseworthy, and being popular and endowed with wonderful qualities, showers welfare qualities on the society.”

Many such hymns have been composed in the protection of the nation and its importance, some of which are being mentioned here, such as:

Up Sarp Mataram Bhoomim. (Rigveda 10.18.10)

“Saluting the motherland with the following mantra it is said – Serve the motherland.”

,Namo Matre Prithivya Namo Matre Prithivya.” (Yajurveda 9.22)

Meaning – “Salutations to the motherland”. Here the meaning of ‘Prithvi’ is motherland or home country. Therefore, in order for us to lead our nation in a conscious manner, a verse proclaims – Vayahashrashtra Jagriyam Purohitaah (Yajurveda 9.23)

Meaning – “Let us become leaders in our nation by being careful.”

The following mantra has been used to inspire the worship of the revolutionary and enemy-killing Agni:

Kavimagnimup stuhi satyadharmanmadhvare. Devamamivachatanam. (Samaveda 1.1.32)

“O praisers, in the yagya, praise the fire of truth, the one who sees the revolution, the intelligent, the brilliant and the destroyer of diseases.”

In the ‘Bhumi-Sukta’ of Atharvaveda, God has preached what kind of feelings people should have towards their motherland. There it is clearly mentioned to consider one’s country as mother and salute it- “Sa no bhumirvi srijatan mata putrai me payah.” (Atharva Veda 12.1.10)

“Mother Earth, i.e. Motherland, please provide nutritious food like milk etc. to me, your son.”

Mata Bhoomi: Putro Aham Prithivyah. (Atharva Veda 12.1.12)

“The land (homeland) is my mother and I am her son.”

Bhume Matarni Dhehi Ma Bhadraya Supratisthitam. (Atharva Veda 12.1.63)

“O Motherland! Keep me well respected.”

Sahrdayam samanasyamvidvesham krinomi vah. Anyo Anyambhi Haryant Vatsam Jatamivadhya. (Atharva Veda 3.30.1)

“Open your hearts to each other and remain single-mindedly engaged in action. Just as a cow turns into a lioness and rushes to attack its newly-born calf when disturbed, you all should be prepared to protect your kind-hearted people in times of trouble.”

That is why we must always be ready to sacrifice ourselves to protect our motherland. “Upasthaste Anamiva Ayakshma Asmabhyama Santu Prithivi Prasutah. Long Na Age: Pratibudhyamana Vayam Tubhyam Balihritah Syam.” (Atharva 12.1.62)

“O Motherland! May we who serve you remain healthy and fit. May we receive all the pleasures that come from you, may we live a long life becoming wise and may we always be ready to sacrifice ourselves for your protection.”

Thus, Vedas are the ocean of knowledge and the invaluable treasure of world literature and the basic foundation of Indian Aryan culture. They contain the noble feeling of nationalism in abundance. Therefore, all of us citizens of the nation should adopt the teachings of Vedas in their entirety so that we can be able to protect the nation.
